Sedgwick County's voter registration has grown steadily from 229,326 in 2004 to 344,640 in 2024—a 50% increase.

However, actual voter turnout hasn't kept pace, with participation rates fluctuating between 63-70%.

While registered voters continue to increase, the slight decline in ballots cast between 2020-2024 presents both a challenge and opportunity.

With projections suggesting 367,000 registered voters by 2028, engaging the approximately 160,000 potential voters who didn't participate in 2024 could dramatically reshape an election.

Our analysis of the data shows both parties have room for growth. Community-based voter education, expanded early voting options, and targeted outreach to historically underrepresented neighborhoods could significantly boost participation in 2028.
